A hiker named David Cifaldi experienced a serious accident while climbing Granite Peak in Montana with companions when he lost his footing and became impaled by his own trekking pole. Despite the severity of the injury, the pole fortunately avoided striking any vital organs. Instead of requesting an emergency helicopter evacuation, Cifaldi chose to hike the entire 10-mile descent on foot.
